Stone Island Transformed

Semana Santa is winding down again. The weather was a little blustery and cooler than normal. Our bubble is becoming a popular destination for national and international tourists so the pools were crowded all last week. Two young couples from Culiacan indicated that they love coming here, this was their third year in a row, because “it’s so quiet”.

With the near completion of the blacktop road to Stone Island (the City of Mazatlan’s general fund for the project ran low, but it will be completed soon)  it’s a breeze to end up on the beach there and a whole lotta people did just that.

What is interesting is the progress of Amaitlan, the planned resort in Stone Island.  The “dune road” has been closed off and the beach fenced. There are small palapas with water stations scattered along the beachfront. The botanic gardens are amazing. The two casitas are completely furnished and available for rent and the gardens themselves are beautiful.

The Master Plan

The only thing they lack are window treatments for privacy.

A major benefit of having the road completed is quick and easy access to Mazatlan Centro district. It’s just a boat ride away.

So the next time you wonder what to do, think about a quick trip to the botanic gardens. You won’t be disappointed.
