Happy Solstice Day

Once again, Mother Earth has made her way around the sun arriving at the place when she starts on her long journey back towards Summer.  Because Earth is closer to the sun right now that it has been in the recent past (her orbit is sightly elliptical),  Winter is a day or so shorter than last year. This means that next summer will be longer by the same amount. It’s hard to imagine though. The Laramie Plains are freezing this morning but without the steady twenty-five mile and hour wind that closed all the roads yesterday.

The exact time for the transition has already occurred (at 4:44 AM EST), but the goddesses are forgiving and if you offer them candlelight and wine tonite, they will look favorably upon you.

Happy Sol Invictus!
